General Custom Design Info
What's required to book my custom design project?
A signed contract and nonrefundable deposit is needed to reserve your project's spot on our schedule. Both can be taken care of online for your convenience.
What is your schedule availabilty for custom design work?
We are typically booked 1-2 months in advance. This works well since it allows clients ample time to thoughtfully complete their pre-project client work, which typically consists of a questionnaire, inspiration board exercise, and gathering of website content. It's also worth noting that we can sometimes accommodate a small-scale project in between other work. We encourage you to contact us regarding your needs, and we can discuss our current scheduling options.
What's your payment policy?
A 50% deposit is paid at booking and the remaining balance is due at project completion. Other payment plans considered per special request. Delivery of finalized design files and/or website launch occurs after your project has been paid in full.
What is expected of clients during a project?
Our schedule is meticulously planned to ensure that every project receives the attention it deserves, so we kindly ask that you adhere to your project timeline. This means that you have your pre-project client work finished on time and that you provide feedback on design drafts within three business days or less. Client delays or project rescheduling will incur additional fees.
How many revisions are included in my custom design project?
Prior to a design's approval, up to three rounds of revisions are available. Additional edits beyond this (although rarely needed) are billed at $125 per hour.
Can I customize what services are included in my project?
Yes. You can add on to a design package or substitute services that are of equal or lesser value. Feel free to contact us about your specific project needs, and we'll provide you with a personalized quote.
What are your business hours?
Monday-Friday 9-5 US Central Standard Time. We respond to client emails within 24 business hours, and we provide clients with a link to schedule phone consults anytime at their convenience.

What's included and how much does it cost?
What is your brand design process?
Between the time of booking and your project's scheduled start date, you complete our project questionnaire and inspiration board exercise. An optional phone consult takes place to review this information and strategize the direction of the project. Next, we handcraft your design concepts and refine, as needed, based on your feedback. We start with the primary logo design first and then move on to the other branding elements included in your project. Once you've provided final approval on designs, we package all your files for delivery.
What is the average turnaround for a branding project?
Brand design takes an average 4-6 weeks to complete. However, this can vary depending on the scope of the work involved and how timely a client provides feedback.
What types of files will I receive?
Logos are provided in both vector and raster file formats – JPG, PNG, PSD, and EPS. Collateral items are delivered as layered PSD files for easy editing; however, other file types, such as PDF, can be provided if you do not have access to Adobe Photoshop. Should your project involve Canva or Mailchimp deliverables, we load your designs onto your account for you at project completion.
Do you handle printing?
This is an optional project add-on. We do love when clients ask us to oversee the printing of their collateral. We can utilize our network of trusted printers to ensure the job gets done right and showcases your designs as intended.

What is your web design and development process?

An optional phone consult takes place to review this information and strategize the direction of your project. Next, we create mockups of your web design and refine, as needed, based on your feedback. Once you've provided final approval of the design, we move into the development phase where we configure your website demo and insert your content for you. You're then able to review the working design and test its functionality. Following your final sign-off, we launch your website and provide a personalized tutorial video and one week of complementary support.
What is the average turnaround for a website project?
Web design and development takes an average 6-8 weeks to complete. However, this can vary depending on the scope of the work involved and how timely a client provides content and feedback.
What website platform do you use?
All of our custom websites are powered by WordPress. No other platform performs as well in regards to SEO and customizability. We build our sites using a custom child theme of Genesis, the world's most popular WordPress framework, along with a page builder plugin that's incredibly easy for clients to use. The result is a highly secure and fast-loading website that's simple for clients to maintain.
Will my website be mobile-friendly?
Yes. Every website we create is responsive, which means its design adapts beautifully for screens of all sizes, and we thoroughly test this during the development process.
What about SEO?
All of our websites are set up using SEO best practices and come with the popular Yoast WordPress plugin installed and ready for you to use. We'll also ensure that your preexisting SEO is maintained by setting up 301 redirects when relevant. In addition, for those clients wanting to take things a giant step further, we offer our popular SEO Upgrade add-on for $2,000. It includes a thorough website audit, sitemap and content outline, keyword research, the editing of your website copy, optimization of your website images, and more! This add-on is an absolute must-have for business owners who are serious about boosting their website's SEO.
Can you help me with my website copy?
We're available to clients anytime via phone consult and are happy to provide general guidance regarding your website content. For the most in depth website strategy and content planning though, we recommend our SEO Upgrade add-on mentioned above. As part of its services, we provide you with a detailed sitemap and content outline that includes specific recommendations for how to organize and write your website copy for each page of your website. This add-on also includes us reviewing your copy and providing suggestions on how to further optimize it for SEO with keyword targeting.
What happens during my website launch?
Your current website will remain active while our project is in progress. Then, when the new website is complete, we transfer its files to your domain and have a simple "coming soon" page activated. With the click of a button, you'll turn off this page to make the website officially live at the time of your choosing. Please note, if you are changing domains or web hosts, it can take up to 48 hours for updates to fully propagate.
Do I need a domain and web host?
Yes. Our website clients are responsible for securing their own domain name and web hosting account. Siteground is our recommended provider for most clients, and we offer a project add-on if you would like assistance with the setup or transfer of your domain, hosting, or custom email address.
Do you offer website training?
Yes. We record a personalized tutorial video at the end of your project. It walks you through how to make easy updates to your website's text and images. You're able to download this video to refer back to it whenever needed in the future. You also receive one week of complementary support following your website launch so we can address any last questions.
I have a logo already. Can I still hire you for my website?
Sure. We're happy to create a website that coordinates with your current branding. However, if you're not 100% in love with your current logo, we recommend waiting until you can book a project that includes both branding and website design services.
Are you available to hire for future website changes?
Yes. Even though text and image updates are easy for a client to perform, some choose to outsource to us instead. We are always happy to assist with this and other simple website changes you may want. Just contact us with a description of your requests, and we'll provide an estimate for price and expected turnaround time.
Do you offer an ongoing website maintenance plan?
We have a 12-month plan for $600 that includes us handling all your WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates for you. We also continually optimize your site's database, scan for malware, and perform automatic daily backups of your website. A report is emailed to you each month outlining the work that was performed. The majority of our clients do choose to include this in their project as it comes highly recommended and ensures your WordPress website is always up-to-date and running smoothly.
